Google Earth. It is not just a geography tool, it also offers:
historic imagery from around the globe, where changes can be seen over time (watch them build the Olympic Stadium in Beijing)
views of the ocean surface and floor (including shipwrecks and fish tracking)
a Tour feature, where teachers can plan a trip ahead of time with voice recording to show in class (no more filmstrips)
the ability to fly to any address in the world and 3D buildings to be shown of the location (it even had my car in my driveway)
National Geographic Videos (Jacques Cousteau never looked so good).
Coastal Erosion (Al Gore would be proud)
Sky maps, showing all constellations and planetary orbits (who needs telescopes?)
Weather conditions and forecasts
Dining by cuisine (anybody up for Chinese in Saskatchewan?) and entertainment establishments near any address
Google Earth moves much smoother than the Jing capture shows, and is much more impressive when you use the tool on its own. Also, enjoy the background soundtrack . . .no, it isn't a chihuahua but my daughter as she plays Gus Gus, the mouse from Cinderella with the gland problem (his mouse mother says he is just big boned).
